Title: My Momma Likes to Say
Author: Denise Brennan-Nelson
This book is full of rhymes that are idioms, proverbs and clichés. Most of the poems come from a child’s point of
view, and they are expressions that come from most mothers. The phrase used throughout the book is “…………My
momma likes to say. I’m not sure what she means but I like it anyway”. It was really funny reading these poems,
because my mom used to say them to me all the time when I was younger but in Spanish, and now I tell them to my son sometimes.
My favorite one has to be “Money doesn’t grow on trees”. When you are younger you do not understand what
they mean, but as you get older you do.
