Field Trips are FUN!!!

Every week class is in a different place.  Each one of us picks out a fun place to have class in.  As well as having class we also get to learn something about each place we go to.  This has been really fun for me because I have been living in Farmington for two and a half years and I had never been to any of the places we have had class in.

January 22, 2009     Farmington Indian Center

For our first class Francis took us to the Farmington Indian Center.  At first I did not know what to think about having class in different places and not in a classroom.  Once the director of the center explained to us all about the center, it was really rewarding to know a place like this existed.  They help out with money for the bus, they have showers available, they have a little restaurant were they serve Navajo tacos and fry bread, and they also have activities throughout the year.

February 12, 2009   Sycamore Community Center

The sycamore park field trip was really fun.  I got to learn that they have activities for children there almost everyday and at any time.  It is a place for children to go and have fun, and learn as well.  I also found out that they rent their facilities for parties at very affordable prices.  I liked it so much that I told all my friends about it, and I even took my son to look at the facility.

February 19, 2009 Enlace

Enlace was a very meaningful experience.  I got to learn all the positive things they provide for people that do not speak English.  This was really nice because almost all of my husband's family needs English classes.  So after our field trip I went and told them about it. To them it was really easy to know where it was located at, because it is right next to the Carniceria (Mexican Meat Market).

February 26, 2009 Riverside Nature Center

The Riverside Nature Center was a surprise for me.  During the season of the Farmers Market I go there to buy fruit and vegetables, and I had never know that there was a place as beautiful as the Nature Center back there hiding.  I loved it, it is like a place to go and have lots of fun in, or to relax and read a book.  I haven't had a Saturday available to take my son, but it is definitely in my to-do list.  I know Mano will love looking at the animals and doing the fun activities inside the center.

March 5, 2009 Coldstone Creamery

This was another place I didn't know of.  I go buy groceries very often to Grocery Warehouse, but had never seen the Ice cream place next to it.  It was fun and relaxing having class in there.

April 30, 2009 La Michoacana
Today it was my turn to take the class on a field trip.  I wanted them to sense a little of my culture, which is the Mexican Culture.  We all met there and had some of the goodies that they have there.  To everyone that was a new place and they were excited.  What was most interesting for me was that they were not scared to try new things.  They tried a lot of things that they had never seen in their lives.  I enjoyed being able to share this experience with my classmates.
